Get a Flawless Face with Laura Mercier

As most of you beautyholics know, Laura Mercier is a coveted makeup line. As a teen I was always in awe of Laura. She made makeup application look so effortless and chic, and her artistry is just unbelievable.

I got to review a few of her popular products so I, too, could achieve that famous flawless complexion. I started with the Foundation Primer, a water-based buffer to hold the foundation in place. This is a great departure from the typical silicone formula so my skin didn't feel slippery. The thin gel texture also absorbed instantly - if you stick it in the fridge you'll get a cool, refreshing sensation.

The full-coverage Crème Smooth Foundation felt a tad heavy when I scooped it out of the jar, but once it warmed up on my hand the texture felt pretty light. I used a slightly damp sponge and worked it gently from the outside edge of the face towards the nose. For a natural finish be sure to use a tiny amount - this stuff is concentrated. I tried the Sunny Beige shade (warm yellow beige for light skin tones) and it worked very well. The result was very professional looking, with a lit-from-within glow.

Another popular product, Secret Camouflage, contains two shades so you can customize the concealer to match your skin tone. It's great on tiny pimples and other slight imperfections (redness) but I'm still looking for the perfect coverage and color to fully cover up my dark circles. I got shade SC-3, so maybe a shade between that and SC-4 would be better. If you have dry skin be sure to moisturize the area under your eyes before using it.

Finally, to set that gorgeous face in place, I used the Loose Setting Powder. The translucent color won't distort your foundation color and it kept my cheeks from getting oily. The texture is one of the silkiest I've tried so I'm really hooked.

Laura believes there are four steps to create a flawless face—primer, foundation, concealer, and setting powder. Each product has been specifically developed to allow every woman to achieve an incredibly even, smooth, yet natural-looking complexion.

So you like this primer better than the other well-known silicone one (whose name we won't mention. hah)? I'll have to give it a whirl then to see how it compares. Thanks for the tip!

I do love that it doesn't have any silicone. It's not clogging for that very reason and yeah, you should try it! ;)
