NARS Holiday 2010 Makeup

As with the fall campaign, the NARS Holiday 2010 Collection is quite bold and theatrical. Inspired by Daphne Guinness, Francois Nars' beauty muse, we get to play with a swirl of smoldering blue eyes, pastel cheeks, rich metallic lips and flattering neutrals.

For NARS fans, the wait is over. The Okinawa Trio Eyeshadow is the first-ever eyeshadow trio from the brand. The striking deep cobalt blue blends so beautifully with the silver and black onyx. The shades look bright in the image but if you use a light hand you can get away with a pretty and elegant look for daytime. For a more dramatic eye simply layer on a couple more layers. The onyx is a soft black so it won't look harsh at all. It also gives a lot of nuanced dimension to the smoky eyelid.

The Melusine Duo Eyeshadow is composed of a rich purple orchid and a pale silver lilac. If you're on a budget and already have a silver and purple duo I'd highly suggest the Okinawa trio over this one. If you're a purple fiend like me then grab this to complete your collection. It's actually a really flattering duo.

The Sex Appeal Blush is actually more of a sculpting powder for the cheeks and temples. The subtle peach gently brings out the apples of the cheeks, making them more prominent and round. Be sure to use it under your cheeks for best results. You can also dust it along your jaw line, nose and forehead for more highlighting.

To get an idea on how the Sex Appeal blush looks on the skin, check out Blake Lively and Kylie Minogue wearing the product!

The Petit Monstre Lipstick gives a satin wash of lush berry. When the light hits the lips at a certain angle there's a hint of copper.

For an extra glam accent use the Downtown Lip Gloss. The unusual opaque metallic-pink lavender brings attention to your pout. Like most NARS products you can use it alone or with a lipstick. This gloss goes really well with the Okinawa and Melusine eyeshadow compacts. It's such a gorgeous look!

For the pièce de résistance, Francois Nars also created the beautiful Bento Box. Each Kabuki cup contains 150 applications of high-pigment lip color (Sakura pink and Maiko red). The handmade Kabuki lip brush is wrapped in wisteria. Only 1,000 sets were made for the U.S. market (2,000 worldwide), so this is a rare keepsake item if you're a true beautyholic.

The entire NARS holiday 2010 collection is available at www.narscosmetics.com. For a limited time all online orders get free shipping! The Bento Box ($125) is also available at Saks, Barneys, and Neimans.
