Tarte Spring 2011 Makeup

Tarte has always impressed me with their highly effective makeup. This season they have introduced a few new products that caught my eye.

The Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush is a long-wearing, solar-baked blush that lasts up to 12 hours. The main natural ingredient, Amazonian clay, is harvested from the banks of the Amazon River and is naturally baked by the sun.

Great for all skin types, it helps minimize oil in and around the pores as well as hydrate the skin. I tried the Natural Beauty shade, which is as muted strawberry red. It looked so bright at first but as I blended it out it looks absolutely fabulous.

Inspired by their original LipSurgence lip stains, the new LipSurgence Natural Lip Luster acts like a shimmery lipstick. Highly moisturizing and lightweight, it has high color payoff and it's not too shiny. The texture sorta reminds me of the NARS Velvet Gloss lip pencils but it's not as thick. Available in six wearable shades, I tried the Pouty (berry) color. The peppermint flavor also makes it really appealing.

I also got to try the moisturizing Dark Circle Defense concealer and it worked quite well for the most part. It blends easily and didn't settle into fine lines (use lightly). The Light to Medium shade is a tad too light for me, so I think I need to mix in a tiny bit of the Medium to Deep to perfect the coverage.

It's too bad they don't have an in-between shade, but I found that if I use a bit of the Bobbi Brown Corrector it works just fine. I also love the fact that this comes with a concealer brush, but some folks might already have their own favorite brush and this addition definitely affects the somewhat higher price.

For editorial consideration, review samples were provided for this post.

Wow, solar-baked blush? How PC is that! ;)

It's a pretty cool concept. I love the deep color and how well it blends into the skin.
